Although, Green Earth Goodness is a fairly new company to the public, it is a work in progress and my own personal "love affair." Before I started making my own soaps and skin care products, I was addicted to fast living. I wanted everything quick. I had a high-paying job working in higher education. I had most everything that I wanted. It wasn't until I got pregnant in March of 2012 and shortly miscarried that I started shifting my way of thinking. I cut my hair or what naturalistas call "the big chop." I started learning everything I could about natural and organic foods and I started a blog in June 2012 called Angela's Homemade. I guess this blog was my outlet to learning how to get back to nature, Loving Mother Earth, Eco-friendly living, crafting, and DIY. I wanted to reclaim my creative side. I believe strongly in sustainability and self-sufficiency. I also believe that if it can be bought in the store, I can make it in my home. I am not afraid to learn how to make something. Hell, I will try it at least once or twice before deciding if it is worth continuing making.
How did I get into making soap?
I'm glad you asked that question. The answer is simple. I wanted, as a stay-at-home wife to be able to contribute to my household. Besides food--bath, body and home care products were the biggest expenses in my household. So of course I had to find a way to cut those expenses down so that we could survive better on one income. I started out making hot processed soap for my home, my friends and my family. A good start and instant gratification because we didn't have to wait long before using these soap bars. I think it was almost a year before I made my own cold process soap bars and I knew that I wanted to do this for a living. I started reading about the different oils, essential oils, fragrance and everything I could about making the best bar of soap. I wanted to make the best moisturizing and refreshing bar of soap that I could. For my family and friends first. Then for the consumer.
Why Green Earth Goodness?
Green Earth Goodness is the evolution of everything that I have learned about making soap. Whether it is cold process soap, liquid soap, or any other type of soap, bath product, body product or home care product, I first love to make for my home. Once it is perfected then I share it with the public--the consumer. Green Earth Goodness is my way of sharing with others natural and organic products that are made with the best ingredients at affordable prices. Green Earth Goodness is my way to slow down and live in the now, listen to mother earth--study her and all that she has to offer and then give those lessons to others. I have not always paid attention and I have a lot more learning to do but I am a forever student of the earth and all of her goodness and that is why Green Earth Goodness exists today!
